In a recent development, the Federal Government (FG) has affirmed its commitment to disbursing nine months’ worth of stipends to beneficiaries of the N-Power program upon the completion of the ongoing restructuring phase. Batches B and C beneficiaries, affiliated with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), have been vocal in demanding their unpaid stipends.
Under the National Social Investment Programmes (NASIMS), the FG clarified that the delay in N-Power arrears payment is a result of the comprehensive restructuring process initiated by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, led by Betta Edu. The restructuring aims to address various issues directly impacting the beneficiaries of the program.
NASIMS conveyed the update via its official Facebook page, stating, “Payment of outstanding N-Power 9 months stipends will be initiated upon conclusion of the ongoing restructuring and repositioning.” This announcement was made on November 28, 2023. The temporary suspension of the program allowed for a forensic audit, leading to the recovery of funds from existing payment service providers.
