2023 NECO database records over 1.2 million registration by SSCE candidates
One million, two hundred and five thousand, eight hundred and eighty-eight (1,205,888) candidates have registered to take the current 2023 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), according to the National Examinations Council (NECO).
While observing how the test was being administered in some schools on Friday, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, the Registrar and Chief Executive of NECO, made the disclosure in Jos, Plateau State.
Speaking through Azeez Sani, Head of the Information and Public Relations Unit, Prof. Wushishi said that out of this total, 601,074 candidates are male and 584,814 are female.
Based on information gathered from around the nation, he expressed satisfaction with the overall manner in which the 2023 SSCE was conducted.

The 2023 SSCE, which will be finished next week, was also mentioned by the Registrar as being the best-organized in recent memory.
Prof. Wushishi stated that certain safeguards had been put in place to prevent examination fraud and that they had begun to show promise.
The registrar who oversaw the exams at the Airforce Military School, King and Queens Academy, and Emmanuel International College, all of which are located in Jos, expressed pleasure with how well the exams were handled in the institutions they visited.
Prof. Wushishi had already observed how the 2023 SSCE was conducted in the states of Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, and Bauchi.
