The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations will take place in June rather than January, as previously confirmed by the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).
The statement was made following a meeting between Walid Regragui, the head coach of the national team, and Fouzi Lekjaa, the president of the federation, to discuss Morocco’s performance at the 2023 AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire. The 2025 FIFA World Club Cup, which will also take place in the summer, will conflict with the competition.

Morocco came into the tournament as one of the favourites to win the competition, but they were knocked out in the round of 16 by South Africa. However, the body has decided to continue with the team’s head coach.
FRMF called for support from fans, especially those who were in attendance in Côte d’Ivoire, as the team looks to redeem their image as they prepare for other competitions.
