Axel Disasi, a French international defender, joined Chelsea from Monaco on a six-year deal, the Premier League club revealed on Friday.
The center-back, who has played 130 times in Ligue 1, has four France caps and was a member of the team that competed in the 2014 World Cup.
The 25-year-old exclaimed, “I am very delighted to be here, at this prestigious club. “I aspire to do really big things here, to win titles. I am incredibly proud to be a member of this wonderful family.
“I’ll exert every effort to meet those goals. I have high aspirations. I’m eager to experience the supporters’ enthusiasm.
“Axel has demonstrated his quality over several seasons in France, and that has justly led to recognition on the international stage,” co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley said.
He is prepared to advance in his career, and we are thrilled that Chelsea will be that next step.
The Blues had their worst Premier League season in nearly 30 years, prompting the hiring of new manager Mauricio Pochettino, who is rebuilding the team.
They open their new campaign at home to Liverpool on August 13.
