International career
In June 2022, Diakité received a call-up to the Ivory Coast for a series of Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches for 2023. On June 6, 2022, he was cut from the team due to a minor training-related injury. September 9, 2023, saw him make his debut in a 1-0 victory over Lesotho.
He was included in the 27-member team for the Ivory Coast-hosted 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in December 2023. He scored the game-winning goal in stoppage time of extra time in the quarterfinal match against Mali, guaranteeing a 2–1 victory and qualifying for the semi-finals, which he would not be able to attend since he was given a second yellow card for his celebrations.

Club career
On January 12, 2022, Diakité left ASEC Mimosas to join Red Bull Salzburg. He was transferred on loan to join Liefering, the Red Bull Salzburg feeder team, after starting off as a co-op player. On February 20, he made his league debut against SKN St. Pölten. On April 3, in the league game against SK Rapid Wien II, Diakité scored his first goal.
Diakité signed a five-year contract with Ligue 1 team Stade de Reims on June 21, 2023.
