After taking home the title in 2019 and 2022, Lionel Messi has now won three times. He is the 2023 Best FIFA Men’s Player.
The Argentine icon defeated rivals Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain and Erling Haaland of Manchester City. The legend also won his eighth Ballon d’Or in October for leading Argentina to victory at the 2022 World Cup.
Messi moved to Major League Soccer’s Inter Miami during the award’s qualifying period, which ran from December 19, 2022, to August 20, 2023. Messi left European football after winning his second Ligue 1 title with PSG.

After taking home the trophy in 2022, Messi has now won the Best FIFA Men’s Player award twice in a row. Notable previous winners include Ronaldo in the two inaugural years (2016) and 2017, as well as Robert Lewandowski in 2020 and 2021. In the men’s division, Luka Modric, the 2018 winner, is the only other recipient.
