Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, hosted Rasheedat Ajibade and Rofiat Imuran on Sunday in his hometown of Ede following their performance at the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
After losing to England in a round of 16 penalty shootout 4-2 last week, Nigeria was eliminated from the competition.
After Nigeria was eliminated, Ajibade and Imuran were among the athletes that went home.
Before the Osun helmsman tweeted about welcoming the two players, who are from the state, a video of the Governor dancing with them went viral on Sunday.

“This morning (on Sunday), I received Osun State-born Nigeria Super Falcons players, Rasheedat aefforts during their time in the tournament and restated our administration’s commitment to the growth of the girl-child and sport development in Osun State,” Adeleke said.
The Governor had earlier put a call through to Ajibade a day before to congratulate her on her appearance for Nigeria and also arrange for the reception.
After missing the opening goalless draw against Canada, Ajibade put in a great shift for the Falcons’ remaining games at the competition. She assisted two goals in the 3-2 win over co-hosts Australia and also scored a penalty in the shootout loss to England.
Imuran, on the other hand, was an unused substitute throughout the tournament.
