Ederson wins 2023 FIFA Mens Best Goalkeeper award
Ederson, the goalkeeper for Manchester City and Brazil, won the 2023 Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper title for his exceptional work during the team’s treble-winning campaign.
Ederson was a key member of Pep Guardiola’s team and the starting goalkeeper for Manchester City during their victories in the FA Cup, Champions League, and Premier League. Notably, he made five saves in the Champions League final against Inter, winning the game with a spectacular stop in the dying seconds.
Ederson placed third in 2019 and is now the inaugural winner of the award. The honor comes at the end of a season in which he was instrumental in Manchester City’s triumphs at home and abroad.

An intriguing development saw Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois selected over Ederson for the 2023 FIFA FIFPRO Men’s World XI. Courtois was on the shortlist for the prize, along with Al Hilal and Yassine Bounou, the goalkeepers for Morocco.
At the London awards ceremony, Ederson expressed his gratitude to his colleagues and family, recognizing their crucial role in his accomplishments. Ederson won the FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup during the season, in addition to the domestic double and the UEFA Champions League championship.
Andre Onana and Marc-Andre ter Stegen were later eliminated from consideration once the initial five players on the men’s shortlist for the award were revealed in September.
